Competitive Women’s Rugby Club Looking for Dedicated 15s Head Coach
Chicago North Shore, a Women’s Premier League Organization, is looking for a dedicated and driven coach for our 15s side. Competing at the highest level of women’s rugby, candidates should share the same ideals as our club, focusing on not only being competitive but developing high caliber athletes. North Shore actively recruits university and international players, and we view our coach as an asset to the program that would continue to draw in talent. The ideal candidate has the leadership skills and strategic knowledge to help North Shore continue to grow and develop as one of the nation’s top women’s rugby clubs, with the ultimate goal of finishing in the top of the WPL.
Coaching role includes:

Development of the overall team and subunit strategy

Provide feedback to help the team and individuals learn and grow

Planning of team practices in season
-
Work with team leaders to select players for game-day roster
-
Attend all matches and tournaments
-
Collaborate with coaches of our partner teams (Chicago Women’s and Chicago Sirens)
Schedule/Timing:
-
December – February 2023: strength & conditioning
-
February – April 2023: indoor pre-season training
-
WPL schedule TBD (to be released November 2022)

Pre-season match late March 2023
-
Estimate first match in mid-to-end of April 2023

In 2022, season ran through the end of June but discussions of a short summer break before starting back up in the Fall 2023

Requirements:

Level 200 or above coaching certification
-
Ability to travel with the team to away league matches and tournaments
-
Ability to commit to all phases of training
-
Must have previous experience coaching 15s
Preferred Qualifications:
-
3 years of coaching experience
-
Experience coaching women
-
Championship rugby experience
Compensation:

This is a part-time position
-
Match related travel expenses paid for by the club

Stipend also offered, negotiable to reflect coaching experience

About the team:
Founded in 1995, Chicago North Shore is a highly competitive women’s club that participates in the Women’s Premier League, the top 10 teams in the USA. In 2022, North Shore finished 6th. Before joining the WPL, North Shore had multiple top finishes, including a national championship, in the USA Rugby Women’s Division 1 series. North Shore recently placed 4th at USA Rugby Club 7s nationals in August 2022, the same year winning 1st place in the Midwest 7s series.
The club consists of approximately 30 dedicated athletes with experience ranging from brand new rookie to past and aspiring Women’s Eagles. North Shore partners with Chicago Women (D1) and Chicago Sirens (D2) as part of the Chicago Rugby Club, and recruits from local colleges to international athletes. The organization is a 501c3 not-for-profit that volunteers time giving back to the community and is managed by a board of directors.
