Chicago North Shore Wants You!

Chicago North Shore, a Women's Premier League rugby organization in Chicago is looking for a new Head Coach for the 2022 Spring season! The ideal candidate has the leadership skills and strategic knowledge to help North Shore continue to grow and develop as one of the nation’s top women’s rugby clubs, with the ultimate goal of winning another National Championship.

Coaching roles include:  

  • Development of the overall team and subunit strategy 

  • Provide feedback to help the team and individuals learn and grow 

  • Planning of team practices on Mondays and Wednesdays in season 

  • Work with team leaders to select players for game-day roster 

  • Attend all matches 

  • Ability to collaborate with assistant coaches, team leadership, and our board

  • Willingness to represent the organization and help with outreach to potential recruits and build relationships with other team coaches 


  • Spring 2022 season (3/15 to 6/26/2022) 

  • Team practices Monday/Wednesday from 7-9 pm in Chicago (location TBD) 

What We’re Looking For: 

  • A dedicated individual that is passionate about rugby and developing athletes

  • Level 200 or above coaching certification or an equivalent

  • Ability to commit to the entire Spring season, and ideally an interest to continue coaching into the summer season. 

  • Ability to travel with the team to away league matches and tournaments 

  • Must have previous experience coaching in both the 15s and 7s codes

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • 4 years of coaching experience 

  • Experience coaching women 

  • Championship rugby experience 


  • This is a part-time position 

  • Match related travel expenses paid for by the club 

  • Stipend also offered, negotiable to reflect coaching experience

About the team:  

Chicago North Shore was founded as a DII club and played its first game as a 7s team during  the Summer of 1995. North Shore’s first trip to Sweet Sixteens was in 2002 where we placed #10  in the country. In 2010, the team made its first trip to the Division I Final Four and took home 3rd.  Finally, in 2011 we made our first trip to the National Championship Finals. We entered playoffs  ranked #8 and ended up winning the National championship. We returned to the National  Championship Finals in 2014 and 2016, claiming the runners up title both times. In 2017 North Shore joined the Women’s Premier league, competing at the highest level of competition available to women in the United States.

  • 2021- Runners Up in the MW 7s Championship & 11th at the National 7s Championship

  • 2019 - Runners Up in the MW 7s Championship

  • 2018 - Women's Premier League 8th place 

  • 2017 - Women's Premier League 8th place 

  • 2017 - D1 National Championship 5th Place

  • 2016 - D1 National Championship 2nd place 

  • 2015 - D1 National Championship Quarter finalist 

  • 2014 - D1 National Championship 2nd place

  • 2012 - D1 National Championship 5th place

  • 2011 - D1 National Champions 

  • 2010 - D1 National Championship 2nd place
